Following the latest UN climate conference which took place in November 2025 in Belem, Brazil, four journalists will discuss the current state of global and EU climate action, focusing on challenges and possible solutions. With less political focus on the climate crisis, less money for climate adaptation and mitigation, the US withdrawal from the Paris Agreement – where are we in terms of global, EU and German climate action, who are the new important actors, what can drive the climate agenda further?

Background and context
With further ongoing wars and military conflicts around the world, rise of the populist political powers in a number of countries, including in the EU, many of which deny the importance of climate action, re-direction of financial means away from climate finance, climate agenda seems to be getting less political and media attention. Where are we now, in terms of climate action and media attention to the topic, following the recent round of the UN climate negotiations in Belem, Brazil, in November 2025? Do we see new climate drivers emerging? Who are the most important climate actors at the moment? What about climate media coverage, do we see more or less professional climate journalism – globally and in the EU?
We will discuss all these questions with a Brazilian journalist based in Berlin Heloísa Traiano, Alexandra Endres from Table.Briefings, European Programme Manager for Clean Energy Wire Boris Schneider and a climate journalist and n-ost climate journalism expert, Angelina Davydova.
This kitchen talk is co-organised by n-ost and Clean Energy Wire (CLEW).
