n-ost kitchen talks

Journalists, media experts and Berliners take a seat at our table for conversations on journalism and its impact. Join us at the n-ost media hub for a peek into the media kitchen and opportunity to connect with fellow media makers.

From floods to alarming election results, there are many crises that call to be thoroughly reported and analysed. At the same time, journalism has been mired in crises of its own: funding is cut, trust is low, the safety of journalists is deteriorating, and misinformation is everywhere. Sometimes we need to pause and ask: What is the role of journalists today? How do we overcome the increasing pile of obstacles to providing verified information, tell impactful stories, and offer diverse perspectives beyond false balance? Which voices are missing from the media, and what do we have to do to change the status quo?

Starting in November 2024, once a month we're cooking up expert talks, panel discussions, and film screenings to spark meaningful dialogue on these questions, offering a flexible space for journalists to ponder their work and uncover blind spots. We're inviting both media makers and their audience to join in and mix civic engagement with diverse perspectives on the state of journalism.

Between the kitchen talks, the n-ost media hub is available to our network members as a co-working and co-production space.
