For a year and a half, Serhii Korovayny has been photographing destroyed houses, injured people and the dead. It was the brutal Russian attack on Ukraine that has turned Serhii, a photojournalist, into a war reporter. "Pictures are a powerful way of showing what war feels like," he says. But it seems that the West has had enough of the images from Ukraine. And as public interest wanes, so does the willingness to stand by Ukraine.
Therefore, what Ukraine urgently needs today is not bulletproof vests and power generators any more - but the continued attention of Western politicians and the public: the Ukrainian offensive is stalling. Russia is once again destroying the water and heat supply for the winter. But in the West, other crises are dominating the headlines and the political agenda. Please help us with your donation to ensure the attention that Ukraine absolutely needs in this crucial phase!
Thanks to n-ost, Serhii Korovayny has achieved an important goal in his work: as part of our underground railway exhibition Next Station Ukraine, he has brought Ukrainian reality into the hectic everyday life of German cities with his photographs.
A second n-ost project serving the goal of stabilizing public awareness of Ukraine is Europe Ukraine Desk: Through research grants, trips, podcasts, a weekly newsletter and discussion events, we facilitate concrete cooperation between Ukrainian journalists and Western European editorial teams.
Finally, with Fight for Facts, we are strengthening the reach and resilience of Ukrainian regional media and at the same time utilizing their local expertise in the fight against fake news.
Please support us in these media projects and give Ukraine the attention it needs now!
