From 12 to 14 September 2024, a dynamic workshop was held for journalists and scientific communicators from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as part of a regional climate change initiative. The event focused on enhancing participants' skills in scientific communication, fact-checking, and reporting on climate change.

The event brought together experts and participants from Central Asia to explore key topics in climate journalism. The training featured a combination of hands-on workshops, group discussions, field visits, and expert-led sessions aimed at enhancing the quality of journalism surrounding climate change.

The training covered an introduction to the Communicating Climate in Central Asia project, content pitching sessions, and a discussion on the challenges of climate communication. Participants also went on a field trip to Ile-Kapchagay to observe the local impacts of climate change.

This is the first workshop for journalists from Central Asia as part of the project. We were able to gather an active group of climate journalists and communicators from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. We hope they will continue creating climate change content with enhanced skills in communication, fact-checking, and more
