Ukraine Reported: Overcoming Obstacles (Kyiv Media Hub event)

On 14 December, a panel discussion “Ukraine Reported: Overcoming Obstacles” took place in Kyiv, at the venue of Urban Space 500. It focused on the challenges of reporting on Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The invited speakers reflected upon the following issues:

  • Covering war for German and Italian media;
  • How editorial focus and audience’s perceptions have been changing through the years of war;
  • What are the effects of the limited access for journalists.

Invited speakers:

  • Rebecca Barth, journalist for ARD;
  • Davide Maria De Luca, journalist reporting for Domani and other Italian media;
  • Azad Safarov, Sky News producer in Ukraine.

Moderation by Serhii Stukanov – a deputy editor-in-chief and a host at Ukrainian Radio (Ukrainian Public Broadcaster).

Kyiv Media Hub – a series of monthly events and networking activities in the framework of “The Europe-Ukraine Desk” project. These events are aimed to bring together Ukrainian journalists and their foreign colleagues to discuss professional topics related to journalistic work in Ukraine, share experiences, and create opportunities for collaboration. The Kyiv Media Hub is going to feature expert speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops and non-formal gatherings. It is open to all journalists and media professionals working in Ukraine.
