Covering Ukraine: Hungarian Perspective (Kyiv Media Hub event)

Kyiv Media Hub is a series of monthly events and networking activities in the framework of “The Europe-Ukraine Desk” project. These events are aimed at bringing together Ukrainian journalists and their foreign colleagues to discuss professional topics related to journalistic work in Ukraine, share experiences, and create opportunities for collaboration.

On 4 September, a panel discussion titled "Covering Ukraine: Hungarian Perspective" took place in Kyiv at Urban Space 500 (9 Hrinchenka Str.). The event focused on how the Hungarian media addresses the coverage of Ukraine and Russia’s war against it.

The invited speakers reflected on:

  • The specifics of the Hungarian media landscape;
  • The range of media approaches to covering Ukraine and the war;
  • Hungary’s state position and public attitudes toward Ukraine: their roots and developments;
  • Personal experiences in covering Ukraine for the Hungarian media.

Invited speakers:

  • Dmytro Tuzhanskyi, co-founder of the Institute for Central European Strategy;
  • Szabolcs Vörös, journalist for *Válasz Online*.

The Kyiv Media Hub features expert speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and non-formal gatherings. It is open to all journalists and media professionals working in Ukraine.
