Sonja Ernst

I'm a freelance journalist and editor with many years of experience. I work for print and online media, but primarily for public radio and podcasts. My work mainly focuses on politics and social issues. I'm excited to take on new cross-border projects. In 2023, I received the Best Audio Documentary award at the dokKa Festival, together with my colleague Christine Werner. In 2022, I was honored with the Peter Scholl-Latour Prize for courageous and independent reporting on people in crisis and conflict zones. The award recognized my work on children born of conflict-related sexual violence (children born of war) in Bosnia and Rwanda. In 2018, I was selected as a fellow of the "Reporters in the Field" program, which supports cross-border journalism. Our reporting focused on children born of war in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo.
