After completing his studies in Sociology and European Studies, Markus spent some time teaching German in Russia and Kyrgyzstan and then worked for two years at the International Office of the University of Halle-Wittenberg. He has been a member of the editorial board of novastan.org since 2020 and editor-in-chief since 2024. At n-ost he is responsible for events, community and project management.
