Juri Wasenmüller

Journalist and researcher, Freelance

Juri works as a freelance journalist on queer-feminist topics, post-Soviet migration to Germany, class issues and their intersection. As a columnist for Missy Magazine they contributed to the discussion around the PostOst-term and the quest for Eastern European and post-Soviet migrant’s engagement in antiracist and decolonial discourses. As a boardmember of Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen (NdM) Juri advocated for discrimination-sensitive reporting and structural change in journalism. They studied Political Science and Sociocultural Studies in Berlin, Bogota, Frankfurt Oder and St. Petersburg. In their PhD project at the University of Hildesheim, Juri explores how collaborative literary writing practices can contribute to decolonizing historiographies in the context of the former Soviet Union.
