Jelena Malkowski is a journalist specialising in migration, post-colonialism, and the climate crisis. She has reported from Germany, Turkey and Egypt, and as part of European cross-border collaborations. Her academic background includes Social and Cultural Anthropology (BA) as well as Journalism, Media, and Globalisation (MA), which she studied in Hamburg, Istanbul, and Aarhus. For her master’s thesis, she conducted research in Kampala on the Western media coverage of the African continent. After working at Spiegel, Spiegel TV and taz’ climate hub, she now continues to cover the climate crisis – particularly its intersections with health and global justice – as well as other international issues, as a freelance journalist.
