Boris Mrkela is a freelance Bosnian journalist based in Sarajevo. He has a special interest in how environmental issues, mining and foreign investment affect human rights and democracy building in the Western Balkans. He enjoys writing about complex economic, financial and social issues. Throughout his career he worked as a fixer and interpreter for numerous journalists and photo reporters and was one of the founders of the Center for Investigative Reporting in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
