Bermet Borubaeva is a Bishkek-based policy researcher specialising in climate governance, sustainable transport, and environmental economics in Central Asia. Her work focuses on the intersection of climate policy and infrastructure development, with particular attention to urban mobility systems and their role in emissions reduction and climate resilience. In 2019, she started #BishkeSmog movement and in 2025 became co-founder of the Research Center "Superstructure". Her Master's Thesis was dedicated to Urban Environment and bike-sharing systems, with a focus on air pollution that continued in further work. She conducts analysis and monitoring of international and regional financial institutions, assessing the alignment of investment portfolios with climate commitments, transparency standards, and environmental safeguards.
