A hot summer's greeting from Vika! I've just returned from an intense week in Poland, where together with 20 journalists, activists, researchers, and artists we explored homophobic propaganda during National Socialism and today. Despite my initial anxiety, the experience was transformative.
Our journey took us from Oświęcim to Kraków. We delved into the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial's archives, met with Poland's top expert on our topic Joanna Ostrowska, and explored the Schindler Museum. We grappled with memory cultures, grassroots anti-fascism, and contemporary activist movements.
I also discovered a Biran who kept his tractor "in excellent condition" during WWII, and refrained from getting a postcard with Zyklon-B cans. Read on in our latest newsletter.
The project is funded by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) as part of the Education Agenda on NS-Injustice.
