On 13 February, a panel discussion “The books they did not want to be written” will shed light on how modern Ukrainian literature depicts the personal and collective experiences of war, captivity, and occupation.
Invited speakers:
– Oleksandr Mykhed, a writer, author of nine books, now enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He has written for publications including The Financial Times, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and The Guardian, and has appeared as a guest on CNN and NPR.
– Myroslav Laiuk, a poet, writer, a war documentarian, author of texts from Kherson, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv regions. His book of essays and features "Bakhmut" was published in December 2023.
– Yulia Tymoshenko, the editor-in-chief for the English translation of Bohdan Lohvynenko's documentary book "Deoccupation: Stories of Ukrainian Resistance".
Moderation by Bohdana Neborak – a journalist with a focus on cultural topics, the interview section editor at The Ukrainians.
