Immersive Workshop in Kraków and Oświęcim

Week-long educational and networking program for journalists and activists from Belarus, Germany, Poland and Ukraine

What: educational and networking program

When: 9-16 June, 2024

Where: Kraków and Oświęcim (Poland)

For whom: journalists and activists from Belarus, Germany, Poland and Ukraine

Together with Fundacja Autonomia (Poland) and Human Constanta (Belarus), we are pleased to announce our first joint event within the project “History Unit: Reframing Queer Narratives in Media”.

The program connects media professionals and queer activists. With this immersive workshop, we want to research NS-persecution of homosexual and transgender people. We want to draw meaningful parallels between historical oppression of LGBTQ+ individuals and the present-day challenges faced by queer communities in the project countries. This educational program includes a thematic tour to the memorial site of Auschwitz-Birkenau with insight in historic sources, lectures and discussions with activists and researchers, city tours, cultural events, networking, as well as practical working phases.

All participants of the program will have the opportunity to apply for a follow up stipendium to create cross-border journalistic content.

Who will participate?

Media professionals as well as queer activists with experience in content creation from the following countries: Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Germany (regardless of the current place of residence).

The project is funded by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) and the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) as part of the Education Agenda on NS-Injustice.
