n-ost hosted the first Central Asian conference on climate journalism (26-27 November 2020)

What is climate journalism? How should climate change and environmental topics be addressed? Which role do the media, bloggers and activists play in all of this?

During the conference, environmental and climate journalists, bloggers, researchers and experts from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will be presenting the results of their common projects, during which they received training and which they conducted between August and November 2020.

We also invite you to take part in a series of online seminars with international experts on:

  • how to work with climate data
  • climate-related / environmental disinformation
  • energy transition
  • the intersection of climate activism and journalism

Conference languages: Russian, English (simultaneous translation).

The conference is organised by n-ost (Germany) and MediaNet (Kazakhstan) together with Media Development Center (Kyrgyzstan), Anhor.uz (Uzbekistan), Asia-Plus (Tajikistan), and Vlast (Kazakhstan) and financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
